ABOUT
This is the personal home page of Michael Teator.
This used to be skream.com, but I let the domain registration lapse and it was snapped up by someone else... never to be mine again.
I like to think I'm the original 'Skream' having used the handle/nick since 1992 on Savannah BBS systems
such as Night Owl, The Reactor, Control Tower, Savannah BBS, and more along with AOL and Prodigy. I also
moderated the DOS forum on AOL as 'PCC MikeT'. Around 1994 I also started using the nick
on the EFnet IRC network. In the mid 90's I registered skream.com for a while, but let it lapse (registrations
were $100/year at that time) and lost it. Fortunately I at least grabbed skream.net so I have something :)
The name 'Skream' was a homage to Skaven of the Future Crew. I really liked
how S and K looked together, so worked hard to come up with my own handle that started with those letters.
I used Skeptre for a week, then Skream stuck.
Skream.net is hosted by Dotster. Dotster is an A class service
and is serving Skream.net well. Skream.net was
previously hosted by my friends at Blue One,
but was moved to experiment with Google's mail hosting (we bow to our Google overlords.) If you're in the central Kentucky area, please
consider Blue One for your internet access
or web hosting needs.
Skream.net is driven on the backend with a mix of PHP, MySQL and XML. Nothing fancy
or beautiful, but it works well and is fast. Development is done on a 1997 vintage Dell dual PPro 200 with 128MB
of RAM running Slackware 11.0 with builds handed off to Dotster's servers when things are stable.
