SKREAMSOFT
skreamSoft was a shareware company that I created & developed for in the late 90's. skreamSoft's two
biggest hits were Skream's Port Listener and Netgear Router Monitor. Both pieces of software became
abandonware in 2000 when I let skreamSoft.com expire and moved on to web development.
NGMON
Netgear Router Monitor (NGMON - 1998 to 2000) was the most complete and useful shareware application I developed. Designed for
use with Netgear's line of ISDN routers it was mildly popular in the US but really caught on in Europe, due mostly
to the widespread adoption of ISDN overseas. ISDN really missed out in the US, where slow adoption was due to price and
and the eventual widespread availability of cable and DSL. Anyways, NGMON is one application I'm proud of and sad that
it is no longer relevent. Source (and distribution binary) has been lost, but if I happen to locate it, you'll find it
here.
PLISTEN
Skream's Port Listener (PListen - 1997) is a funny little app that was initially designed for use to detect attackers
using WinNuke in attempt to kick your PC off the internet. At Tucows it was awarded a 5 Cow rating which
is their highest award for quality software. Unfortunately F-Prot and some other virus manufacturers
mistakenly identified it as a Trojan causing it to be wiped off many shareware sites. Before then, over 200,000
visitors downloaded it from my Earthlink home page, and an unknown but likely larger number from sites such as Tucows.
Source is missing for this, but the binary is available.
